Happy little challenge

Hi this week I get to combine two of my Design Team challenges in one.
Cooking it up with Katie wanted us to make a project with our three favourite things, wow what a gift of a challenge, and Aud Sentiments wants us to use the word happy!.
Aifactory supplied us with some lovely images and sentiments for the Aud Sentiments challenge, and you can see how i used that inside my card.  I used my foilmaster to make a sentiment that I mistakenly printed in black, to change it into a shiny, brown coppery image.  I really am loving this new tool
So what can you create today?
Dont forget to tell us on your blog post what your 3 favourite things are that you used in your project and use the word happy for Aud Sentiments.  Of course you dont have to combine your challenges like i did, not unless you want to!

Cooking it up

This week at Cooking it up with Katie we have a recipe of
Spools (anything from a spool)
and a Sentiment

I made two cards for this but decided the first card wasnt quite right.. (which is why I made two)
The card I ended up with was using lots of bits and pieces from around the craft room as I cleaned it up.
I was trying to work with distress inks (talking myself out of wanting the new distress markers) and I have decided its very hard not to overwork distress, my card looked much brighter than what it is now but i kept on coming back and adding more ink.. not always the best choice.   Im thinking it actually needs some more detail of some sort on the top of the card but for the life of me I can't work out what to add.. so for now, it stays as is!

We would love to see your creations over at Cooking it Up with Katie, you have two weeks to play!

As i mentioned above, Ive been cleaning up the craft room...  the benches are done!  but the cubpoards and waredrobe still need some attention.  Im even thinking of taking the waredrobe door off and adding some shelves for my sewing machines etc, so I can have them close by but not on the benches.

Valentines with Meljen at Card Making Mama's

Hi from a coldishy, wet and slightly miserable Sydney.  What a change from the delightful scenes at Whistler Canada where we were lucky enough to have over 1metre of fresh snow over the two weeks we were there... how spoiled were we!  Just two days of what I would call... testing!  One was -27d but -40 with wind chill and the other was about three days prior to us leaving, where it rained everywhere but high levels.. where it was foggy and windy... blah!

My first creation on my return home was such fun to make!  I had read the brand new issue of Designed To Colour and was quite taken with the idea of monochromatic colouring, I attempted it with this project but ended up adding too much colour, so my original idea changed to a somewhat distressed card... taking my right back to my original style of cardmaking.  This card is very me, from the colour choices, and the distressed look.  I even coloured the lace using spritzers, and the colour match was a complete mistake.  I was aiming for a brown tea dyed look, but I found that I didnt have any suitable brown inks to use for spritzing... after a few combinations using brick and marmalade vivid reinkers I ended up with a near perfect match apricot/orange lace...  something that may be impossible to recreate!

Our theme this week at Card Makin Mama's is Valentines.   Now considering that my dear husband doesnt get into the idea of Valentines, I felt it was best to make a card for a friend instead of the love of my life.   The image is perfect, its called Cubbin Around and its from one of my favourite designers Meljen.

I used 7 Gypsies paper, Kaiser lace, and Kraft Cardstock for the base, coloured with copics and then went a little silly with Distress Inks (after watching the Tim Holtz Distress Markers video)
The shape of the image and mount and the hearts were cut on the Blackcat Cougar.
I am not sure why I loved making this so much, but it really was nice to sit down and just relax with papercraft... now I have to go and clean up that craft room and try and find some form of organisation in it!  Wish me luck.
