April 2019 Puffy Pastel Polka-dots - Monthly Exclusive

Im going to try and make a real effort to include the tools, colours and stamps that I use within projects, its just a case of me remembering to write it all down!

Its Party time...

A little bit of inspiration for our current challenge of Puffy Pastel Polka Dots over on the Oddball Art Stamp challenge blog.

As soon as I saw the challenge theme I knew exactly what image I wanted to use.

The Whimsical Party Hat Image #211 is perfect don't you think.

I initially wanted the image to be huge on the card but decided to shrink it down a little to allow me to put a text panel behind the image for an additional sentiment.  I really like how effective this technique is.

I have been really time poor in recent weeks, and time caught up with me.   Nothing like creating in a hurry.  This is one time where I was pleased to have some elements ready to use in a pinch.

I had a precut cameo and sentiment  from previous projects and then did a print and cut for the image, and added two layers to bulk it up.    I have really realised that preparation of some items really is a great thing in the crafting world.  Thankfully the elements I had to use worked together to create this cute card.

Crafting by Designs

Oddball Art and Co are sponsoring Crafting by Designs with an Anything Goes Challenge.  The Oddball Team got asked if they would like to play along.

Ive been cleaning my craft room and sorting products and have found some crafting mojo.  So my answer was a big fat YES I want to play.

Please head on over to Susan's blog once you have finished visiting my blog
Susan's blog

You can grab this image with a 10% discount by using my DT code - DTPENNY10, while in the shop why not pick up some other images too    I tend to use the "cute" images or make them cute.   But I can be led astray into the creepy side of things.

This image is called Creepy Cute Zombie Sheep and I cut it out using a print and cut method on my Cameo 3.  I used Copics to colour the image and put a layer of R21 over some parts to "pink" it up as I wanted it to have a pink hue.

I had some older background elements handing around the craft room, that worked well with my idea for the card.  Im trying hard to use elements I have vs cutting up more.  So far that plan is working.   As you can see from my project, i'm also becoming more "accepting" of my white card stock not always matching.  Who knew there were so many tones of white :(

Don't forget to show us your creations on the Oddball page when you share them to the Crafting by Designs challenge.  Have fun and Im looking forward to seeing what you all make.

Progressive Challenge - Scrappers Delight

I was lucky enough to get an image from Janice at Scrappers Delights for the March Progressive challenge.  I made up a simple tag for an Easter gift.

Thanks for visiting today

Cheers to you

A lovely friend of mine is having a birthday at the end of March and I wanted to make a card with this little image from the Oddball exclusive release this month.
The image I chose was the Draft Beer image.
I had fun using my Copics to work on an amber ale colour.

To finished the card I used a card cut file from Silhouette store. With some simple embellishments and patterned paper.  Im trying to get some cards cut and ready to ass images too when im in a rush or needing a head start.

Please head on over to the OddBalls Community and blog to see more inspiration from the team and don't forget to check out the exclusive membership subscription.

This week we are sponsoring the challenge over at
Scrapping4FunChallenge - AG with layers and my card fits the theme perfectly.

Inspiration - Odd Ball challenge

Its a new month for the Oddball Art Stamps challenge and we are  using the theme of

Life size Leprechauns & Unlucky Clovers

For my card, I made a simple background using Distress Oxides and then added a ton of water.    By the time I was finished the card I realised I forgot the theme of Clovers.  The rain and sad image covered the unlucky theme.  Thank goodness for clovers and the Silhouette Cameo.

I used Big Eyed girl with Umbrella #13 for my post with the old faithful copics to colour.  If you were after this image or others from the store, don't forget my discount code DTPENNY10.

We would love to see you on our challenge, as always there are some great prizes if enough people play.

Meet the New (and old) Design Team

Image may contain: text

Our new team is up and running over at Oddballartco.com and they have some wonderful welcome projects to share with you.  Just quietly i'm super excited my moster's colouring made it to the banner above :)

Ive had a shocker of a week at work and kept my card simple, using Kraft card and Prisma's... I know Pencil isnt ussually my thing!

For the Thanks, I die cut some craft and my intention was to make it a bit rustic.. but it turned green.  I dont hate it but the glossy accent completely changed the look I was going for.

Please head over to the blog to check out all the new team and send them some love xx

Im going to play in a few anything goes challenges this week.

Kinda Cute by Patricia

Im playing with a free image from Kinda cute by Patrica, I added a Cameo die cut with vellum and used the Silhouette Pens to create the font.  I love how they came together.

I keep looking at the image and I can also see a way to use the ties, as Fish.. especially the one that has a scale effect... I may just have to play with that idea.

Im playing in the challenge over on Facebook for February, it ends March 3.

Im loving that creating seems to be coming easy, I think the 30 day Marker challenge is helping with my Mojo.

Little pigs on Valentines

It's that time of the year again when little piggy images become my go to images, I was drawn to Elsa by Oddball Art but this card, she is a go to image for me when I need cute and quirky.    I used my Cameo to cut the elements and it all just went together easily.  The little white card isnt adhered at all, leaving some secret space to write a little love note if needed.  I think I will use this card design again.  The card base isn't really needed but I did add it.

Dont forget to check out our current challenge over on the blog or on facebook and share your creations for the Deranged Sentiments challenge.

Aye Aye Captain!! A Pirates life for me

Hi Everyone
In January the artist being the name - Oddball Art went to Cuba.  She came back drawing all things pirates and rum.   I love what she created and couldn't help but make some clean and simple cards.

There were many choices to play with, swords, bottles of rum, a cute map and more.. but I couldn't go past the cute skull.  I was able to fit two skulls to an a6 page and then I fussy cut them out with my Brother Scan and Cut.  I think its giving up on me or I need a new matt.. hopefully the latter.

I finally go the chance to use my typewriter, purchased alteast a year ago.. it then promptly became a paperweight.     Got to say, I really am not impressed with it.  The keys stuck, the carriage blocked and the letter T didnt put a proper space behind it.   I managed to make it work but those little sentiments took much longer to create than what they should of.     For the price of the typewriter you'd expect perfection.   I have been doing #mariekondo organisation in the past few weeks and I can honestly say the Typewriter doesn't bring me joy.

For the sentiments on the cards, I looked up "pirate quotes" and typed up the words.  Despite the fact of the typewriter being annoyingly glitchy I did like that I could completely individualise the words that I added.

I was chatting to a friend about the typewriter and she said she prefers to use a printer and foil for her sentiments.  Ill give that a go soon.  (If I can get my laser printer to play).  It thinks it has a paper jam.. despite it not having paper.

Looking forward to seeing what you create for this theme, head on over to the challenge blog and play along.   Facebook is another  place to show us your creations.  If you like to showcase your works on instagram be sure to tag us so we know to look at your works.   I use #oddballartstamps #oddballart  as tags on my work when I remember.

Well.. that got chatty.... if you made it this far why not head on over to the OddBall Art shop and use my discount code DTPENNY10

A little bit of chemistry

This card has a little bit of history in it.  My daughter did her Higher School Certificate last year and is now going to study Medicinal Chemistry.    The image jumped at me as appropriate for a chemist. That said, she is starting Uni around Valentines day so its fitting into a few themes for February.    Over at Oddball Art Stamps we are using a theme of sentimentally deranged.

We would love to see what you do with this image, its part of our Monthly Exclusive which you can find out about here.

For other items in the store you can add my discount code to your purchase

Im going to try to post to Instragram often this month for the #thedailymarker30day  challenge.  Be sure to check it out, so many artists playing along with varied levels of experience, new starters to long termers play along.

Sentimentally Deranged

Welcome to another month of great creations by the Oddball Art DT.  Our theme this month is Sentimentally Deranged and for some reason this image called out to me as an appropriate match for the theme.

I wanted to go for a new background technique (new to me) and used a stencil and coloured paste mixed with glass bead paste, I used white and two tones of teal to create the background.

The little wide eyed pup is Bailey and is image #481 and he was coloured with copics and some glossy added to his BIG EYES.

Razzle Dazzle

Such a late post and an in progress pic, I have had this project on my desk for a month but have then started cleaning my craft room and putting it on the backburner.
This image is from Lizzy (OddBall Art) and my intention was to have it ready for my Niece who is all into things like this.
I used my minc and foil over the image to create some shine and added a glitter background.  Not overly happy with it but am putting it out there for some inspiration advice :)

Tomorrow I get to craft again and work on another idea for this image.  Im my head it needs to be deeper in colour with reds, blues and pops.

Stay tuned for more of Skull of the dead inspiration, meanwhile if you are after this awesome image then head on over to the store with this direct link -----> here
